I am an Associate Professor of Sociology at Queens College and The Graduate Center, at City University of New York. I am an Urban Sociologist with research interests in social and spatial inequality, gated communities, residential segregation and comparative urbanization. My latest project is to study organic mixed-income neighborhoods in the context of urban inequality. Check out my article, which discusses the link between neighborhood economic diversity and levels of mortgage foreclosures: Vesselinov, et al. 2017. “Is It All in the Eye of the Beholder? Benefits of Living in Mixed-Income Neighborhoods in New York and Los Angeles.” Journal of Urban Affairs. DOI:http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/07352166.2017.1343633.
Another recent publication is related to how to use social media in a positive way. This published piece of work discusses the Humans of New York Facebook site, you can find it here: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/07352166.2019.1697184
